Unloading during Sabbath
So how does your faith increase? How do you equip yourself to face your spiritual battles? It is by spending time with God and finding that rest in Him. Just like the principle of physical rest, spiritual rest is when you rejuvenate your spirit. You feed your spirit with the presence of God and allow His Spirit to work in your life.
Now, what does the unloading means? It was mentioned in earlier that Sabbath is an opportunity to unload burdens and spiritual stress. This does not only mean the release of pain caused by your battles. This is also the unloading of sins from your being. Remember that consecration was mentioned in chapter four? This was because Sabbath is also an opportunity for Christians to renew their commitments to God and repent for the sins they have committed for the week. The bible said: “Above all you shall keep my Sabbaths, for this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I, the Lord, sanctify you.”
Although every day is an opportunity to talk to God, the amount of time to do it is limited as you are pre-occupied with the concerns of the world during the week. Sabbath is our exclusive time with God. And this is the time when the Spirit of God can start the work in your life because you are free from all the evilness that went along with you during the week.
