The Power of Forgiveness
Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. – Luke 6:37 NIV
If you are to choose to live God’s love as your life purpose, to forgive is an option that you cannot avoid. Forgiveness is not just about people, it is spiritual growth. Love and forgiveness go together and can never be without the other.
You can never be whole without forgiveness. When you choose to live with the pain caused by a loved one, you can never be happy. No matter how successful, if you are living with regret, you can never feel fulfilled. Most of the time, you can never get or start going to where you want to be if there is something within you keeping you from performing best. If you are emotionally unhappy, you are physically down and mentally depressed. The only solution to an life without meaning is forgiveness.
Forgiveness starts with you. First of all, you need to get rid of all regret and anger in your heart. Get rid of all accusations that you have bestowed upon yourself. Yes, you are accountable for your life and everything that has happened in the past, but stop blaming yourself for your imperfections. Pray for complete acceptance of your personal failures, and realize that everything that happened had a purpose. God has a specific plan for you. Though hard to understand and to see, there is a purpose behind everything that happens in your life. If you are open to the realization that you are perfectly imperfect, and you have nothing against yourself, then you are capable to think the same for others.
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. – Ephesians 4:31-32 NIV
Once you have accepted your human imperfection and threw away all hate, anger and resentment within yourself, it is not difficult for you to forgive others. You then understand that when things happen, letting them be is the thing to do. No need to judge, no need to give meaning to things that are not proven facts. When your mom left you when you were a kid, she left you and that was it. That was all there is to it. It does not mean your mom does not love you. That should not cause you to hate her. She left you, but it does not mean she does not love you. It is time to end your inner suffering. Forgive yourself for hating her and the circumstance of her leaving you. Forgive her for what she did.
Not everybody finds it easy to start the process of forgiveness. But it is only through the power of forgiveness that you can move on with your life the way God has planned it to be. Let God heal you from your inner wounds and embrace a life without regret and blame. The power of forgiveness will change your perception about your relationships and your life.
