Man’s Weakness
All throughout the Bible, man’s weakness and God’s strength was showed. God made it clear right from the beginning that we need Him in our lives. Our ability is to respond to God’s ability. In Judges 3:7-31, it stated:
The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord; they forgot the Lord their God and served the Baals and the Asherahs. The anger of the Lord burned against Israel so that he sold them into the hands of Cushan-Rishathaim king of Aram Naharaim, to whom the Israelites were subject for eight years. But when they cried out to the Lord, he raised up for them a deliverer, Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, who saved them.
It was clear that even if the Israelites did the things that they want, they were oppressed by their enemies. Even if God showed His amazing grace to them, they still walked away from Him. They showed disobedience. They skipped their devotions and forgot to pray, they actively rebelled against God. In the end they still needed God to rescue them.
