Learning How to Listen

This might be an odd question to ask but how do you pray? Do you mumble some formula prayers and words or do you pray from the heart? Praying form the heart means that you do not do all the talking. Remember that prayer is a conversation with God. It’s a two-way communication. Your relationship with the Lord should also include listening to Him without you doing all the talking.

A lot of Christians try their hand at prophetic prayer but fail at it. Why? Because they are not putting their hearts into it. They are not communicating with God properly. All they do is talk and talk and ask for so many things. They reason out why their prayers deserve answering and point out all the great things they’ve done. God doesn’t want this. He already knows you. He knows everything about you. So you don’t need to plead your case with Him. You’re just wasting your time, and God’s time. So how then should you pray?

Prophetic prayer means waiting intently and listening to what God has to say. You should come to Him with quietness and respect, and sincerely present your petition. You will hear Him only if you listen. Prayer is communion with the Lord and conversing with Him. Let the school of prophets teach you how to pray and sincerely communicate with God. You will realize that your prayer life will have more meaning and become more meaningful. Speak with a prophet and learn about God’s prophetic word. Change your prayer life and truly connect with God.
