God Gave Us the Victory
Have you ever experienced your own Walls of Jericho in your life? These walls represent the illness you’ve had when you’re already on your way to a successful career, it represents the conflict you and your boyfriend had when you’re on your way to getting married, it represents an argument you and your child had when he’s so close to coming to church with you.
Are you so close to buying a house, but saw that you’ve lost your budget due to an unexpected expense?
The challenge is to move forward and to continue to obey God in the midst of what seems like impossibilities in the battles. These walls do not represent that the battle is over and you’ve lost. These walls represent an opportunity to reveal God’s greatness.
And it happened. Joshua spoke, the people moved: Seven priests with their seven ram’s horn trumpets set out before God. They blew the trumpets, leading God’s Chest of the Covenant. The armed guard marched ahead of the trumpet-blowing priests; the rear guard was marching after the Chest, marching and blowing their trumpets. Joshua 6:8-9 MSG
God instructed the Israelites to take the city of Jericho by marching around the city while singing and praising God. After they obeyed God, the walls of Jericho fell down and they were able to overcome the city. The walls of a city represent its protections. It’s what keeps the enemies out.
In the case of the Israelites, God has told them to overcome this city. The wall represents an obstacle that they had to overcome to obey God. This wall is standing between them and a breakthrough.
If you focus on these walls, you’ll have a hard time seeing God’s goodness and guidance in your life. However, it is in our hope and attitude towards the promises of God enables you to experience the breakthroughs you need.
Lets Look How God Gave us the Victory Already
We should never wallow in a place of defeat as doing so will haunt us and give us more challenges and breakdowns. In addition, we must not let the Walls of Jericho keep us away from God’s promises. We need to do something to get breakthrough those walls. We need to simply ask God, “How do we do this?”
All things start in a conversation. The Walls of Jericho fell down through the registration of the Israelite army. The people registered by walking around the wall for seven days. We can see that this is a registration mixed with intention. They were able to register the walls to come falling down.
