In the Bible, there are several mentions of the symbolic Bread and Wine. Bread and Wine, in scripture, are physical forms of food and drink that possess a spiritual meaning. This is made clear from the way Jesus refers to the Bread and Wine.

In John 6:53-56, it is written:

“I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.”

In the passage above, Jesus is talking about how his flesh is food and his blood is drink for those who are faithful. Those who choose to partake in his body and blood will be one with Christ. There is scriptural evidence that supports that Jesus also refers to his body and blood as “Bread and Wine”.
